What West Virginia Means

It looks as if Hillary Clinton will take the state of West Virginia by a dominating margin, nothing short of a landslide. This will not give her the delegates necessary to beat Obama and will not improve her nothing-short-of-a-miracle chance. West Virginia is simply an excuse for Hillary Clinton to stay in the race. Mrs. Clinton and her supporters will make the argument that no Democrat has won the Presidency without West Virginia since 1916. Because those blue-collar types won't vote for a Muslim.

Score one more point for the right-wing spin machine. Somehow, someway, Democrats need to figure out how to spin things against their opponents in a convenient fashion. Not only do people think Barack Obama is a Muslim, but they are angry over comments his Christian preacher made. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.

Well, back to Hillary. The writing is practically on the wall something along the lines of, "You lost, Bitch." All she can successfully do now is continue to drive a stake between members of one party, make Obama spend more, and practically give the election to John McCain. Obama outspent Hillary in Pennsylvania in the hopes of ending her campaign. He failed, this means as we get towards Denver, he will have to spend more to keep fighting her. Which in turn means he will have less money to fight John McCain.

We need to realize that no matter who wins the nomination the right-wing attack dogs will go after them with everything they have. Our job is to fight back and, if need be, sling some shit of our own. Like how McCain left his wife for Cindy Lou Hensley and married into extraordinary wealth. Marrying into wealth... Was that not the exact criticism of John Kerry? Hopefully we do not see a "POWs for Truth" against McCain. Have some decency and honor.

Liberals and Democrats have this inane tendency to think they are more justified because they are more victimized. Hillary should win because, "We need a woman" or "She's got more experience." Whatever your reasoning, she has not won. It's over, it's time to forget being a President and remember to be a Democrat.

I agree with your conclusion here. For a while I didn't feel comfortable saying Hillary HAD to get out of the race, as long as she was winning primaries. But PA proved that all she's doing is distracting Obama while McCain and the GOP will continue to define him:

Hillary simply serves to drain Obama's resources and reinforce the notion that some parts of the country aren't willing to vote for an African American candidate. That's not to say all the people of WV and KY are racist, quite the contrary. I could easily see them supporting someone along the likes of Edwards or Biden with a populist appeal. That would be a practical policy decision for a person like them. Hillary isn't a populist, she isn't an everyday person. She's lived an elaborate lifestyle- she hasn't driven a car in 20 years, she doesn't know how to work a coffee machine and she "lives" in Chappaqua NY a town so rich 99% of New Yorkers couldn't afford to buy a house and live here. I'm not one who believes that those who don't support Obama are all racists, but I doubt they're voting for Hillary because of any policy decision.
